Web 2.0 in Education

IT provides a fantastic tool for information communication but in the classroom we haven't used its potential - we still mostly teach in the same way.

Students will need to operate in a more information rich culture than today and education today needs to evolve to deal with this.

Teaching needs to make use of real world scenarios - problem based methods, simulations, role play.

Teaching needs to make use of current culture and available technologies

Web 2.0 systems like Blogspot, Myspace, Youtube and Flickr are current and evoloving systems and provide a fantastic opportunity to increase learner participation and engagement.
I'm going to try and persuade a division manager to consider the use of Web 2.0 in their area.

I'll let you know how I get on and what the response is
